IT INCLUDES THE REACTION OF TRIETHYL ORTHOPHORMIATE WITH 1-CYANOFORMIDIC ACID HYDRAZIDE IN DIOXAN SOLUTION SATURATED WITH HYDROGEN CHLORIDE ANHYDRO AT A TEMPERATURE NEAR 0JC; SEPARATION OF THE MIXTURE AND PURIFICATION, FOLLOWING CONVENTIONAL METHODS, OF THE 3-CYANE-1,2,4-TRIAZOLE FORMED. THE REACTION OF THIS WITH TRIETHANOLAMINE IN ALCOHOLIC SOLFIDE OF GASEOUS HYDROGEN SULFIDE PRODUCES 1,2,4-TRIAZOL-3-THIOCARBOXAMIDE; FROM WHICH SODIUM SALT IS OBTAINED BY REACTION WITH SODIUM HYDROXYL OR 1-B-D-RIBOFURANOSIL-1,2,4-TRIAZOL-3-CARBOXAMIDE BY TREATMENT WITH RIBOSA-1-PHOSPHATE AND NUCLEOSIDE-PHOSPHORYLASE. 1,2,4-TRIAZOL-3-CARBOXAMIDE IS ALSO OBTAINED BY REACTION OF METHYL 1,2,4-TRIAZOL-3-CARBOXYLATE WITH AMMONIA IN HOT. THESE COMPOUNDS HAVE PHARMACOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS FOR THEIR ANTI-TUMOR AND ANTIVIRAL ACTIVITY.
