METHOD OF REDUCING THE CONTENT OF ETHYLENE CARBONATE IN ETHYLENE GLYCOL OBTAINED BY HYDROLYSIS OF ETHYLENE CARBONATE IN THE PRESENCE OF A CATALYST. IT INCLUDES THE DISTILLATION IN A VAPOR-LIQUID CONTACT DEVICE, THE EFFLUENT OF THE HYDROLYSIS OF ETHYLENE CRBONATE, CONTAINING ETHYLENE GLYCOL, SUPERIOR GLYCOLS, CATALYST AND UNREACED ETHYLENE CARBONATE; SEPARATION OF A FRACTION OF A LOWER BOILING POINT THAT CONTAINS FUNDAMENTALLY ETHYLENE GLYCOL AND WATER, AND A LIQUID FRACTION OF HIGHER BOILING POINT, CONSTITUTING FUNDAMENTALLY OF CATALYST, ETHYLENE GLYCOL AND SUPERIOR GLYCOLS; RECIRCULATE A PART OF THE HIGH BOILING POINT FRACTION COMOREFLOW AGAINST THE LOWER BOILING POINT FRACTION; AND RECYCLE THE REMAINING PART TO THE HYDROLYSIS REACTION. THIS ETHYLENE GLYCOL HAS APPLICATIONS FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF FIBERS. |
