CONSISTS OF CYCLING A TRIETILAMINE SOLUTION OF AN AMINOALCOHOL OF FORMULA (II) IN WHICH HAL REPRESENTS A HALOGEN ATOM TO OBTAIN SUBSTITUTE 3 AZE-OLIVE DERIVATIVES IN 3 AZE-OLD POSITION 1 OF FORMULA (I) WHERE R1 REPRESENTS AN ARYLMETHYL GROUP AND R2 REPRESENTS A HYDROGEN ATOM OR AN ALKYL, ARYL OR ARALKYL GROUP, IN WHICH THE REST OF THE ALKYL CONTAINS UP TO 8 CARBON ATOMS. THE REACTION IS CARRIED OUT UNDER REFLUX IN THE PRESENCE OF A PHASE TRANSFER CATALYST SUCH AS TETRAALKYLAMMONIUM HALIDE, AND AT A TEMPERATURE OF 50 TO 150JC. THEY ARE USED IN AGRICULTURE TO CONTROL PLANT GROWTH.
