IT CONSISTS OF THE REACTION OF A COMPOUND OF FORMULA R-H WITH A COMPOUND OF FORMULA (II) IN WHICH Z CAN BE ONE OF SEVERAL TYPES OF RADICALS AND R E AND HAVE THE SAME MEANING AS IN FORMULA (I). THE REACTION IS EFFECTED IN AN INERT ORGANIC SOLVENT IN THE PRESENCE OF A BASE AT A TEMPERATURE CLOSE TO 20JC. THESE COMPOUNDS HAVE PHARMACOLOGICAL APPLICATIONS FOR THEIR ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY.
