THE REDUCTION IS CARRIED OUT BY TREATMENT WITH A COMPLEX METALLIC HYDRIDE AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN -70JC AND 80JC. THESE COMPOUNDS HAVE APPLICATIONS AS INTERMEDIATES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ANTIBIOTICS.
