abstract 3 (57) PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF A SOFT AND OPTICALLY CLEAN CONTACT LENS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING STAGES: FIRST, A ROUGH PART FOR A CONTACT LENS IS FORMED, AT A REDUCED SCALE, FROM A RESIN OF ALCOHOL, POLYVINYL SUBSTANTIALLY NOT CROSS-LINKED, WITH AN AVERAGE MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF AT LEAST 6,000, IN THE PRESENCE OR IN THE ABSENCE OF A POLYVINYL ALCOHOL PLASTIFIER; SECOND, SAID ROUGH PIECE FOR LENSES UNDER CONDITIONS PROMOTING CRYSTALINITY IS TEMPERED TO EFFECTIVELY INCREASE THE ELASTIC MODULE OF THE SUBSEQUENTLY INFLATED CONTACT LENSES; THIRD, SELECTED PORTIONS OF SAID ROUGH PART ARE SEPARATED UNTIL THE REST OF THE WARM ROUGH PART CONSTITUTES A REPLICA OF SAID REDUCED-SCALE CONTACT LENS; AND LASTLY, SAID WARM REPLICA IS INFLATED IN AN AQUEOUS OR NON-AQUEOUS INFLATING SOLVENT.
