THE REACTION IS EFFECTED IN THE PRESENCE OF A BASE AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 0 C AND 150 C. A COMPOUND OF FORMULA (III) CAN ALSO BE REACTED WITH A COMPOUND OF FORMULA RR CO ORR CO, OR WITH COMPOUNDS OF FORMULA (IV) OR ( V). THESE COMPOUNDS HAVE APPLICATIONS IN AGRICULTURE AS PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS.
