CONSISTS OF THE REACTION OF NUCLEOPHILIC REPLACEMENT OF GROUP R BY HYDROXY IN 1,1-DIOXIDE OF 1,2-BENZOISOTIAZOL-3 (2H) -ONE OF FORMULA (II), IN WHICH R IS A SUBSTITUTE GROUP AND R IS HYDROGEN, ALCOXI OR ARALCOXI. THE REPLACEMENT OF A DIAZONIC CATION IS PERFORMED IN AQUEOUS AQUEOUS DISSOLUTION AT THE BOILING TEMPERATURE OF THE MIXTURE, AND THAT OF OTHER ALKALINE BASED GROUPS IN THE PRESENCE OF CATALYSTS AND WATER, AT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 120 AND 200 C. THESE COMPOSITIONS THE INDUSTRY AS SWEETENERS.
