abstract | PROCEDURE FOR EXTRACTING COPPER AND ARSENIC FROM COPPER SLAG CONTAINING ARSENIDE. LEACHING IS CARRIED OUT, UNDER OXIDATION CONDITIONS, OF THE FINELY DIVIDED SLAG WITH AN AQUEOUS AMMONIA SOLUTION CONTAINING ARSENIATE IN A MOLAR RATIO WITH RESPECT TO THE OTHER PRESENT ANIONS OF 2:1, SULFATE IONS AND/OR CARBONATE IONS AND ABOUT 40 G /L OF AMMONIA AS AMMONIUM HYDROXIDE IN ADDITION TO COMBINED WITH OTHER ANIONS BESIDES ARSENIATE. THE LEACHING IS CARRIED OUT AT A TEMPERATURE OF 40-60<025>C. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN OXIDIZING GAS, SUCH AS AIR OR OXYGEN. THE COPPER IS REMOVED FROM THE LEACHATE, THROUGH AN ORGANIC SOLVENT, TO OBTAIN A REFINED. THE REFINED IS RECYCLED TO THE EXTRACTION STAGE, WHERE A BLEED OF REFINED IS REMOVED WHICH IS SUBJECTED TO HEAT IN THE PRESENCE OF A BASE, SUCH AS SODIUM HYDROXIDE, TO REMOVE AMMONIA AND PRECIPITATE AN INSOLUBLE ARSENIC COMPOUND. IT IS USED FOR SLAG FROM THE BLAST-FURNITURE MELTING OF LEAD OR ZINC CONTAINING OXIDIC MATERIALS. |
