IT CONSISTS OF THE OXIDATION REACTION OF 4,5-DIMETHYLIMIDAZOLE, BY TREATMENT WITH ALKALINE OR AMMONIA PERSULPHATE, IN AQUEOUS SOLUTION, IN THE PRESENCE OF A CATALYST, SUCH AS IRON, COBALT, VANADIUM, MANGANESE OR COPPER SALTS, IN A PH MEDIUM BETWEEN 8 AND 1, AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 50 <025> CY 100 <025> C. THE MIXTURE OBTAINED IS EXTRACTED WITH AN INERT ORGANIC SOLVENT AND SUBJECTED TO CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION TO REDUCE THE 4-FORMYL-5-METHYLIMIDAZOLE FORMED. THIS COMPOUND HAS APPLICATIONS AS AN INTERMEDIATE FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS. |
