THE MIXTURE OBTAINED IS EXTRACTED WITH AN INERT ORGANIC SOLVENT AND SUBJECTED TO CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION TO REDUCE THE 4-FORMYL-5-METHYLIMIDAZOLE FORMED. THIS COMPOUND HAS APPLICATIONS AS AN INTERMEDIATE FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTS.
