IT CONSISTS OF THE PREPARATION OF HEXAHYDROXY - 2,3,4,3 '', 4 '', 5 '' - BENZOPHENONE BY CONDENSATION OF PYROGALOL AND GALIC ACID. THIS REACTION IS CARRIED TO EFFECT PREFERENTIALLY IN THE PRESENCE OF CATALYSTS SUCH AS ANHYDROUS ALUMINUM CHLORIDE, ANHYDROUS ZINC CHLORIDE ALONE OR WITH PHOSPHORUS OXYCHLORIDE, AND BORON TRIFLUORIDE IN A SOLVENT LIKE THANE. THE REACTION IS CARRIED OUT PREFERENTIALLY AT TEMPERATURES BETWEEN 100 AND 120 DEGREES. > APPLICATION IN THE PREPARATION OF PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOUNDS USED IN THE TREATMENT OF FUNCTIONAL DEFICITS AND METABOLIC DISTURBANCES RESULTING FROM CIRCULATORY AND PERIPHERAL INSUFFICIENCY.
