IT CONSISTS OF THE REACTION OF 2,4,6-TRICHLOROPHENYL HYDRAZINE WITH A LOWER ALCOXIMETHYLENE MALONONITRILE, WHOSE LOWER ALCOXY GROUP CONTAINS 1-4 CARBON ATOMS. THE REACTION IS CARRIED OUT IN A POLAR, INERT SOLVENT, SUCH AS ETHANOL, AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN 3 AND 150 C. THESE COMPOUNDS HAVE APPLICATIONS IN AGRICULTURE AS HERBICIDES AND PLANT GROWTH REGULATORS.
