abstract | PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING MAGNESIUM OXIDE HYDRATE CEMENTS. THE CEMENT TO BE OBTAINED HAS BASIC INGREDIENTS, MAGNESIUM OXIDE AND MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE. THE PROCEDURE CONSISTS OF PREPARING A PREVIOUS WATER-BASED MIXTURE, A SMALL PORTION OF THE REQUIRED TOTAL MAGNESIUM OXIDE, AND AN INHIBITOR, IN ORDER TO SUPPRESS OR DELAY THE REACTION OF THAT PART OF MGO WITH THE REQUIRED MAGNESIUM CHLORide THE MGCL2. THE INHIBITOR USED IS PHOSPHORIC ACID, A REACTIVE PHOSPHORIC ACID SALT OR A LITHIUM-STABILIZED POLYSILICATE. THE AMOUNT OF WATER USED IN THE PREVIOUS MIXTURE IS SUBSTANTIALLY ALL THE NECESSARY TO FORM THE HYDRATE. THE PROCEDURE ACHIEVES TO OBTAIN A WATER-RESISTANT CEMENT, A CHARACTERISTIC THAT CAN BE IMPROVED BY TREATING THE CEMENT SURFACE WITH AN ALKALI, PLASTER IN PARTICULAR. |
