THE REACTION TAKES PLACE IN THE BENZENE SINUS AT REFLUX AND IN THE PRESENCE OF SMALL QUANTITIES OF DIMETHYLFORMAMIDE OR DIMETHYLSULFOXIDE; METHANOLYSIS IS EFFECTED BY SUBMITTING THE MEZCA TO THE ACTION OF DIISOPROPYLAMINE IN METHANOL.
