IT CONSISTS IN MAKING NICOTINIC ACID OR A REACTIVE DERIVATIVE THEREOF REACT IN ITS CARBOXYL GROUP WITH 1,2-DIAMINOPROPANE AT A TEMPERATURE BETWEEN -10 AND 50 DEGREES CENTIGRADE. The nicotinic acid derivative is selected from an acid halide, acid anhydride, and nicotinic acid anhydride with another acid. THE REACTION TAKES PLACE IN AN INERT SOLVENT SUCH AS PYRIDINE, TETRAHYDROFURAN, DIOXAN AND MIXTURES THEREOF. THE MOLR REACTION OF 1,2-DIAMINOPROPANE TO NICOTINIC ACID OR ITS DERIVATIVE IS 1:2,3-5.
