THE POLYMERIZATION IS CARRIED OUT AT A TEMPERATURE OF 100 TO 250 GC FOR A TIME OF THREE TO 172 HOURS. THE RELATIONSHIP INCLUDES 70 PER 100 BY WEIGHT OF LACTIC ACID AND 30 PER 100 OF GLYCOLIC ACID. THE ION EXCHANGE RESIN IS DOWEX HCR-W2-H OR FROM AMBERLYSTELS. THE COPOLYMER OBTAINED HAS A CHLOROFORM INHERENT VISCOSITY OF 0.08 TO 0.30, WITH AN AVERAGE MOLECULAR WEIGHT OF 6,000 TO 35,000, BEING FREE OF A POLYMERIZATION CATALYST.
