In a process for the production of a phenoxycarboxylic acid derivative of formula ** (Formula) ** where the quaternary ammonium salt or the quaternary phosphonium salt is selected from benzyltrialkylammonium salts, benzyltrialkylphosphonium salts, tetraalkylammonium salts, salts of tetraalkylphosphonium, triphenylalkylphosphonium salts and triphenylbenzylphosphonium salts and said quaternary ammonium salt or said quaternary phosphonium salt is incorporated at a molar ratio of 0.005 to 0.05 calculated on the phenolic compound (I). |
