titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING ALKALINE SALTS FROM EAST HYDROXIBENZOIC ACID |
abstract | 1. Process for obtaining alkaline salts of esters of hydroxybenzoic acid, largely anhydrous and free of hydroxybenzoic acid, of formula **(Formula 01)** where R1 means alkyl, alkenyl, cycloalkyl or aralkyl, R2 and R3 are the same or different and mean hydrogen, halogen, hydroxy, amino, alkylamino, alkyl, alkoxy, aralkyl or aryl and Me means an alkali metal, characterized in that a solution or suspension of an ester of hydroxybenzoic acid of formula **(Formula 02)** where R1, R2 and R3 have the above meanings, is neutralized with an alkali metal hydroxide at -10 to +50°C to a degree of neutralization of 0.95 to 1.05, with a degree of neutralization of 1.00 meaning the equivalence point of the neutralization of the phenolic OH group by the alkaline hydroxide and the solution or suspension, thus obtained, of the alkaline salt of the hydroxybenzoic acid ester is fed to a protective drying of the product, known in itself, as early as possible. The content of hydroxybenzoic acid or its alkaline salt in this solution or suspension does not reach a value of 1% by weight, based on the amount of alkaline salt of hydroxybenzoic acid ester contained in this solution or suspension. |
