titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR THE HOMOGENEOUS COATING OF TITANIUM DIOXIDE PIGMENTS WITH ORGANIC POLYMERS |
abstract | 1. Procedure for the homogeneous coating of titanium dioxide pigments with organic polymers, characterized in that a dispersion of titanium dioxide in water is mixed with an aqueous solution of polymers containing carboxyl groups, and the polymer is applied to the pigment, after which the coated pigment is separated in a known way from the aqueous medium, washed, dried and, if necessary, ground, using as polymer compounds those of the general formula ** (Formula) ** where R1 independent of each other, mean hydrogen or methyl, R2 represents hydrogen, alkyl or cycloalkyl with 1 to 8 carbon atoms, M represents sodium, potassium cations, R3 represents alkyl or cycloalkyl with 1-12 atoms or, preferably hydroxyalkyl with 2 to 6 atoms, 1 is a part, m is 0.2-1.5 parts, n is 0 or 0.1 to 0.5 of the monomer mole parts, in amounts of about 0.05 to 2.5% by weight, preferably 0, 2 to 0.8% by weight, based on titanium dioxide, which is added in alkaline aqueous solution to the titanium dioxide suspension. |
