Process for the preparation of 2-chloro-6 nitroanilines of the formula**(Formula-01)** in which A represents hydrogen, a straight or branched chain alkyl radical with 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a cycloalkyl radical with 3 to 6 carbon atoms, an alkyl radical with 2 to 6 carbon atoms substituted with chlorine or with hydroxy, allyl or trifluoroacetyl, B represents hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl or isopropyl, A and B together also represent an alkylene radical with up to 5 members, possibly interrupted by oxygen, =NH or =NCH3, or the group =CH-N (CH3)2'' R represents hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, bromine, trifluoromethyl, methyl or methoxy, and X represents oxygen or sulfur , characterized in that a phenol or thiophenol of the formula**(Formula-02)**, optionally in the form of a salt, especially an alkali metal salt, or in the presence of an acid-binding agent, with a dichloronitroaniline of the formula **(Formul a-03)**in an inert solvent. |
