titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE SALT OF 4-AMINOHEX-5-INOICO OR A SALT OF THE SAME. |
abstract | Procedure for the preparation of the 4-aminohex-5-ionic salt or a salt thereof, characterized in that it consists in treating a pyrrolidone compound of the formula **(Formula)** where R1 is hydroxy, amino or tertiary butoxy , with a strong base in a lower alcohol solvent at a temperature of about 20°C. At the reflux temperature of the solvent for about 6 to 23 hours when R1 is amino, decarboxylate the 3-carboxy derivative or its tertiary butyl ester to provide the 5-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone which is treated in a chlorinated hydrocarbon solvent or acetic acid with an equivalent amount of bromine at a temperature of about 0° to 35°C. With stirring for about 4 to 24 hours, treat the thus formed dibromo intermediate in a strong base liquid ammonia or ether solvent for about 1 to 40 hours at a temperature of about -80° to 125°C, and quench rapidly with water. followed by acid hydrolysis and when desired the free base is subjected to subsequent treatment with a base. |
