titleOfInvention | A PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF SUBSTITUTED DIBENCILIC ETHERS. |
abstract | A process for the preparation of substituted dibenzyl ethers, of the general formula I **(formula-01)** where R represents a phenyl or phenylthio group, and its pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salts, characterized in that it comprises condensing at a temperature between 20 and 100 ÂșC, for 6 to 36 hours, in the presence or absence of potassium iodide as catalyst, in a solvent chosen from the group consisting of aromatic hydrocarbon, dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran, hexamethyl-phosphoramide, dimethylforide, tetrahydrofuran, hexamethyl dimethyl phosphoramide or sulfoxide and in the presence of an alkali metal dimethyl hydride and in the presence of an alkali metal hydrodide or amido, or in a solvent consisting of an aliphatic alcohol with 3 to 6 carbon atoms in the presence of an alcoholate alkali metal, 1-(2'', 4''-dichlorophenyl)-2(N-imidazolyl-netyl)- ethanol with a halobenzyl of the formula V **(formula-02)** where R has the meaning before indicated and X represents a chlorine or bromine atom, isolate the product so formed and convert it into its acid addition salts following the usual procedures. |
