abstract | A process for the preparation of new quinazoline derivatives of the formula: ** (Formula-01) ** where R is a lower alkyl group; Y is a group of formula - (CHR1) mZ, where R1 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, m is 1 or 2 with the proviso that when m is 2, the R1 groups can be the same or different and Z is a group of formula -N (R2) CONHR5 or -OCNHR5, where R2 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group and R5 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, benzyl or phenyl; whose procedure is characterized by reacting a quinazoline of formula: ** (Formula-02) ** where R, R1, R2 and m are those defined above, with an isocyanate of formula R5NCO, where R5 is the one defined above but different from hydrogen , or, to prepare compounds where R5 is hydrogen, with sodium or potassium cyanate in the presence of an acid; optionally followed by conversion of the product of formula (I) is a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt by reaction with a non-toxic acid. |
