A method for the manufacture of a sanitary napkin, comprising the operations of embossing and coating a first layer of ground pulp to form recesses therein and compressed portions thereon, feeding said first layer of ground pulp, with said spaced-apart recesses being on the lower face thereof, on an inner wad, feeding a corrugated sheet on the upper face of said first layer, feeding a second layer of defibrated pulp on said corrugated sheet to form an absorbent core, placing an upper wad on said absorbent core, then roll crimping said top and bottom pads together, die forming and cutting the bundled material and rotating the same ninety degrees, then wrapping a fluid impermeable sheet around said top pad and said absorbent core and joining the spaced edges of the same to said lower huata, and subsequently wrap the whole or with non-woven sheet material. |
