titleOfInvention A PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF 17 & -ACETOXI-9 & -FLUO-RO-11B-HIDROXI-16B-METHYL-3-OXOAVIDROSTA-1,4-DIENO-17B-CARBO-CHLORMETHYLENE XYLATE.
abstract A process for the preparation of chloromethyl 17alpha-acetoxy-9alpha-fluoro-11beta-hydroxy-16beta-methyl-3-oxoandrosta-1,4-diene-17beta-carboxylate chloromethyl comprising either (A) esterifying 17alpha-acetoxy acid -9alpha-fluoro-11beta-hydroxy-16beta-methyl-3-oxoandrosta-1,4-diene-17beta-carboxylic acid (or a functional equivalent thereof) or 9alpha-fluoro-11beta, 17alpha-dihydroxy-16beta-methyl-3 chloromethyl -oxoandrosta-1,4-diene-17beta-carboxylate to produce the desired compound; or (B) subjecting iodomethyl or bromomethyl 17alpha-acetoxy-9alpha-fluoro-11beta-hydroxy-16beta-methyl-3-oxoandrosta-1,4-diene-17beta-carboxylate to a halogen exchange reaction which serves to replace the halogen substituent on the halomethyl group for chlorine.
