abstract | Procedure for the synthesis of sodium 1-methyl-5-p-toluoylpyrrole-acetate, characterized in that the starting point is 1- methyl-2-pyrrolacetonitrile, which is treated with dilute sulfuric acid and becomes 1-methyl-2- pyrrolacetamide, which by reaction with p-tolnic anhydride carried out in a totally anhydrous medium, ceasing petroleum ether as solvent and using anhydrous iron trichloride as catalyst, gives a mixture of two isomers, 1-methyl-5 p-toluoyl-pyrrole- 2-acetamide, taking into account that the reaction vessel must be cooled externally so that the temperature does not exceed 5-10ยบ, proceeding to the decomposition of the excess reagents at the end of the reaction with the addition of very cold concentrated hydrochloric acid. |
