abstract | Procedure for the quantitative determination of antithrombin III in plasma or serum, characterized in that 2 parts by volume of the diluted plasma or serum are mixed with 1 part by volume of a solution of a sulfated organic polymer with heparin effect with approximately 0.4 to 20 international units and 1 part by volume of a thrombin solution with 1 to 40 NIH units, the mixture is incubated at a temperature of 4 to 45°C for 2 to 20 minutes, and then a part of the incubation mixture is added to a solution of fibrinogen and the coagulation time of the mixture is determined. |
