abstract Improvements introduced in a procedure for the preparation of cefamycin C consisting of the aerobic fermentation of a Streptomyces strain in an aqueous culture medium containing carbon and nitrogen sources, inorganic salts and traces of metals, at a temperature between 20ºC and 37ºC approximately and at a pH between approximately 6.0 and 8.0, the improvements of which comprise the addition of an amino acid selected from the group consisting of D- or DL-arginine, D- or DL-ornithine and D- or DL-lysine and / or a polyamine selected from the group consisting of 1,3-diaminopropane, agmatine, spermidine, spermine, cadaverine and putrescine to the nutrient medium.
