HYDROGENATION IS DONE IN THE PRESENCE OF A MONO, DI OR TRICARBOXYL ACID IN AN INERT SOLVENT MEDIUM AT A TEMPERATURE INCLUDING BETWEEN 10 DEGREES AND 70 DEGREES C. THE CATALYST IS A METAL OF THE TRANSITION GROUP OF HYDROGENATING ACTIVITY, ESPECIALLY PLATINUM OR PALADIUM. CARBOXYL ACID CAN BE ACETIC, SUCCINIC OR CITRUS; IF IT IS ACETIC, IT IS USED IN EXCESS TO CONSTITUTE THE SOLVENT OF THE REACTION; IF SUCCINIC, THE SOLVENT MEDIA IS DIOXANE. PRESENT THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES IN THE THERAPY OF THE CENTRAL NERVOUS SYSTEM AND IN CARDIOVASCULAR DISORDERS.
