1,3-Dihydroxy-1,3,5(10)-8alpha-oestratrienes or their ethers or esters of the following formula < IMAGE > in which the substituents are defined in Claim 1 are prepared. The said compounds are obtained by hydrogenating the 8(9) and, if present, the 14(15) double bond in a corresponding oestraoligoene. It is possible in the resulting compounds to reduce a 17-ketone group, to eliminate ester and ether groups, to esterify or etherify free hydroxyl groups and, furthermore, react a 17-ketone compound with organometallic compounds to introduce a hydrocarbon radical. The said compounds display favourable oestrogenic dissociation and they can be used for the treatment of manifestations of oestrogen deficiency. |
