abstract This invention relates to compositions of matter and methods for their production. The different aspects of this invention relate to new derivatives of some of the known prostaglandins, for example, prostaglandin F1alpha(PGF1alpha), prostaglandin F2alpha, (PGF2alpha), prostaglandin F3alpha(PGF3alpha), dihydro prostaglandin F1alpha(dihydro-PFG1alpha), and their 15beta epimers, and their racemates, and to new methods for producing these new prostaglandin-like derivatives. In particular, the novel prostaglandin-like derivatives of this invention are carboxyacylated at the C-15 position. Each of the above-mentioned known prostaglandins is a prostanoic acid derivative having the following structure and atom numbering
