Grapefruit pulp is reacted with an alcohol or ketone, preferably a polyhydric alcohol such as propylene glycol or glycerin, in the presence of a free radical initiator such as ultraviolet light to produce a stable reaction product useful as an ingredient in various cosmetic products and for other purposes. The product is also highly effective as an air deodorizer and an antibacterial and antifungal agent. |
