titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR THE RECOVERY OF QUINONE COMPOUNDS FROM A WORKING SOLUTION, WHICH INCLUDES ONE OR MORE QUINONE COMPOUNDS DISSOLVED IN A SOLVENT SYSTEM.
abstract Quinone compounds, such as alkylated naphthoquinones and anthraquinones, are recovered from a working solution comprising (a) one or more quinone compounds dissolved in (b) a solvent system comprising a quinol-dissolving constituent and a quinone-dissolving constituent and (c) non-regenerable by-products obtained as a result of the use of the working solution in a process for the production of hydrogen peroxide, by removing the solvent system from the working solution and dissolving the resultant residue in one or more solvents of the formula R. COOR1, R1OOC.(CH 2 ) n COOR1, O=P-(OR1) 3 where R is a hydrogen atom or alkyl C 1-4 and R1 is alkyl, cycloalkyl or alkyl-substituted cycloalkyl and n is 0 or an integer from 1 to 4, or a dialkyl C 1-4 - phthalate, a dialkyl formamide or a compound of formula R-O-(CH 2 ) 2 -O-(CH 2 ) 2 -OR1 where R is alkyl and R1 is hydrogen or alkyl, and crystallizing the quinone compound from the resulting solution. Preferred solvents are propyl formate, ethyl, amyl, cyclohexyl and methylcyclohexyl acetate, amyl butyrate, diethyl adipate, diethyl phthalate, dimethyl phthalate, triethyl phosphate and dimethyl formamide. The solvent may be in admixture with one or more aromatic hydrocarbons.
