abstract | A firelighter composition which comprises a thermosetting resin containing a liquid fuel, e.g. kerosene, expressible therefrom, has a coating of paraffin wax on one or more surfaces, the coating containing cupric chloride and/or cupric oxychloride. The resin may be urea-formaldehyde and the wax is preferably blended with one or more other waxes, e.g. a polyethylene wax or a microcrystalline wax or a high molecular weight copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. The copper should comprise 0À2% to 2% b.w. of the composition. |
