abstract | Novel compounds of the Formula I where R 1 is halogen or cyano, R 2 is hydrogen, halogen or nitro, and R 3 and R 4 are each hydrogen or halogen, are prepared by reacting a compound of the Formula II with an indazole derivative of the Formula III where M is an alkali metal atom or ammonium ion and Y is a halogen atom, a sulphuric ester group or a sulphonic ester group. The compounds have insecticidal and acaricidal properties (Division A5). 1 - Chloromethyl - 3 - chloro - 5 - nitroindazole is prepared by reacting thionyl chloride with 1- hydroxy - methyl - 3 - chloro - 5 - nitroindazole. 1 - Hydroxymethyl - 3 - chloro - 5 - nitroindazole is prepared by reacting formaldehyde with 3-chloro-5-nitroindazole. 3-Chloro-5-nitroindazole is prepared by nitration of 3-chloroindazole. 1 - Chloromethyl - 3 - cyanoindazole is prepared by reacting thionyl chloride with 1- hydroxymethyl-3-cyanoindazole. 1 - Hydroxymethyl - 3 - cyanoindazole is prepared by reacting formaldehyde with 3-cyanoindazole. 1 - Chloromethyl - 3 - cyano - 5 - chloroindazole is prepared by reacting thionyl chloride with 1- hydroxymethyl-3-cyano-5-chloroindazole. 1 - Hydroxymethyl - 3 - cyano - 5 - chloroindazole is prepared by reacting formaldehyde with 3-cyano-5-chloroindazole. 3-Cyano-5-chloroindazole is prepared by reacting sodium chlorate with 3-cyanoindazole. |
