A monovalent metal salt of a polymer of a conjugated diene carboxylated along the polymer chain is compounded with zinc oxide and sulphur and vulcanized. The carboxylated polymer is preferably prepared by lithiating polybutadiene or polyisoprene with an alkyl lithium and an amine followed by reaction with carbon dioxide. |
