titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING POLYVINYL (CO).
abstract Stereoregular P.V.C. is obtained by polymerizing at below 0 C. in the presence of water containing an antifreeze and a water-soluble catalyst comprising a peroxide, a reducing agent, a polychlorinated organic compound in an amount of 0À2-2 parts per hundred parts of monomer and a salt of iron, cobalt, copper or vanadium. A dispersant may also be present. Preferably two metal salts are used and in the examples the following materials are present (1) methanol, methyl cellulose, sodium dodecylbenzene sulphonate, sulphuric acid, hydrogen peroxide, ascorbic acid, ferrous sulphate, copper sulphate and carbon tetrachloride, (2) as (1) substituting trichloroethylene as the chlorocompound, (3) methanol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, sodium salt of p-chlorobenzenesulphinic acid, sulphuric acid, di-tetrahydrofuryl peroxycarbonate, ferrous chloride and carbon tetrachloride and (4) methanol, polyvinylpyrrolidone, t-butyl isopropoxyperacetate, dihydroxyacetone, cobalt acetyl acetonate, ferrous ammonium sulphate and trichloroethylene.
