abstract Novel, stabilizing compounds I, II and III wherein R is p-hydroxy-di-alkyl-phenyl (one alkyl is m while the other is at any available position), R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R1 1 , R1 2 and R1 3 are H, alkyl, phenyl, aralkyl or C m H 2m CO 2 R, where m is 0 to 6, R 4 is C n H 2n+1 , where n is 1 to 24, cyclohexyl, phenyl, aralkyl or (CH 2 ) y CO 2 -alkyl, - phenyl or -aralkyl, where y is 1 or 2, R 5 is C n H 2n , where n is 2 to 12, CH 2 OH 2 OCH 2 CH 2 , CH 2 CH 2 SCH 2 CH 2 1,4-cyclohexyl, 1,4-phenylene, 4,41-C 6 H 4 OC 6 H 4 or 4,41-C 6 H 4 SC 6 H 4 with the proviso that in I and II at least one of R 1 , R 2 or R 3 is C m H 2m CO 2 R and in III at least one of R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R1 1 , R1 2 or R1 3 is C m H 2m CO 2 R and wherein phenyl and aralkyl may be substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, hydroxy, alkylthio or alkoxycarbonyl, are obtained by reacting R 1 R 2 C = CR 3 CO 2 R with H 2 S, R 4 SH or HSR 5 SH reaction products containing carboxy can be esterified utilizing ROH.
