titleOfInvention A PROCEDURE FOR PRODUCING A CROSS-LINKED VINYLPYRROLIDONE POLYMER IN GRANULAR OR PEARL FORM.
abstract Porous, cross-linked beads or granules of a vinyl pyrrolidone polymer are obtained by polymerizing a mixture of vinyl pyrrolidone and a cross-linking monomer in an aqueous solution of an electrolyte and in the presence of a freeradical initiator, at 50 to 80 C. In examples, vinyl pyrrolidone is copolymerized with methyl- ene-bis-acrylamide, or ethylene-, tetraethylene- or polyethylene-glycol dimethacrylate, in the presence of, as electrolyte, Na 2 SO 4 or NaCl solution, and also Na 2 HPO 4 , and in some cases ethanol.
