titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING AN INSECTICIDE AND ACARICIDAL MEDIA BASED ON INDANIL-N-METHYLCARBAMIC ACID ESTERS.
abstract The invention comprises compounds of the Formula I wherein R 1 -R 4 which may be the same or different represent a hydrogen atom or an alkyl C 1-4 radical and R represents an alkyl C 1-4 radical or R and R 1 -R 3 each represents a hydrogen atom and R 4 represents an alkyl C 1 _ 4 radical. They are prepared by reaction of the appropriate 4-hydroxy indane with methyl isocyanate or with excess of phosgene and reacting the chloroformic acid ester thus formed with methylamine, or with an equivalent amount of phosgene and reacting the bis- (indanyl)-carbonate thus formed with methylamine. 2,4 - Dimethylindanol - (4) is prepared by Zn/HC1 reduction of 2,4-dimethyl-7-hydroxy-indanone (-1), which is prepared by reacting pcresyl methacrylate with AlCl 3 . 1 - Methyl - 2 - ethylindanol - (4) is prepared by Zn/HCl reduction followed by hydrogenation in the presence of Raney nickel of 2 - ethyl - 3 - methyl - 4 - chloro - 7 - hydroxyindanone-( 1), which is prepared by reacting pchlorophenyl 1,1-diethyl-1-bromo acetate with AlCl 3 . 1,2 - Dimethyl indanol - (4) is obtained by Clemmensen reduction of 2,3-dimethyl-7-hydroxy indanone-(1). 2,2 - Dimethyl indanol - (4) is obtained by reacting phenyl 2-chloro pivalate with AlCl 3 followed by Clemmensen reduction of the resultant ketone. The compounds of Formula I have pesticidal properties.
