abstract The invention comprises compounds of formula wherein A and D are each H, halo or C 1-7 alkyl B is n-butoxy, dialkylaminoalkoxy, alkylsulphonyloxy, arylsulphonyloxy or nitro and R and R1 are each alkyl or together with the intervening nitrogen atom represent an optionally substituted heterocyclic ring which may have N or O as a further heteroatom and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. Preparation of these compounds is from the corresponding nitriles by reaction with NHRR1, the reaction being conducted either with the latter reactant in the form of a Grignard compound or in the presence of a Lewis acid. Subsequently, salt-formation, salt-hydrolysis or salt-interconversion may be effected as required. Pharmaceutical compositions for oral, parenteral, rectal and topical administration comprise the inventive compounds (to which is ascribed anthelmintic activity) and a carrier.
