titleOfInvention A PROCEDURE FOR PREPARING POLYESTERIMIDE BASE COATING COMPOSITIONS.
abstract A copper wire is coated with a polyesterimide-based coating composition in a wire tower with top temperature 470 C and bottom temperature 250 C. The polyesterimide-based coating composition is prepared by adding a polyisocyanate and a phenol-formaldehyde resin and then refluxing for 1-6 hrs. Also present may be: 0.5-3%, based on wt of solids, of an organic titanate as curing acid metal compounds, e.g. soaps or organic salts, of Ce, Co, Mg, Zn, Fe, Pb, or Zr and solvents, e.g. cresylic acid, phenol, mono-, di-, and trialkyl benzenes. The titanate and other metal compounds are preferably added after refluxing at <50 C. The polyesterimide may be made by heating cresylic acid, phenol, ethylene glycol, dimethyl terephthalate, methylene dianiline, trimellitic anhydride, tris(2-hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, and Ti(OBu) 4 . There may be 1-5% isocyanate based on wt of solids, and 1-15% phenol-formaldehyde resin, based on wt of composition. Specifications 973,377, 1,028,887, 1,043,098, 1,082,181, and 1,095,663 are referred to.
