titleOfInvention | A PROCEDURE FOR THE PRODUCTION OF A DETERGENT COMPOSITION. |
abstract | A process for the production of a detergent composition incorporating at least 35% by weight of an alkyl aryl sulphonate detergent active compound, and sodium tripolyphosphate, comprises forming an aqueous slurry of the detergent active compound and sodium tripolyphosphate at least 5% by weight of which is prehydrated and subsequently spray-drying the slurry. The alkyl aryl sulphonate is preferably a sodium alkyl (C 10 -C 16 ) benzene sulphonate, present in an amount of 35-50%. The process suitably incorporates 25-45% of sodium tripolyphosphate in the composition, 10-20% of which is prehydrated. However, the total content of the alkyl aryl sulphonate and the sodium tripolyphosphate should not exceed about 80% of the composition. The slurry temperature is advantageously below 90 C. Optional additives include alkali metal silicates, sodium sulphate, sodium perborate, sodium carboxymethyl cellulose and sodium toluene sulphonate. |
