titleOfInvention | A PROCEDURE FOR TREATING SUBSTRATES IN THE FORM OF SHEETS WITH THE OBJECT OF IMPROVING THEIR PROPERTIES |
abstract | Laminates may be prepared by bonding non-ionic sheet materials with an adhesive comprising (A) a chlorinated butene-1 polymer prepared by chlorinating a butene-1 polymer of melt index 0À1 to 60 and isotacticity of 20 to 95 weight per cent, and containing 3 to 70 weight per cent of chlorine, and (B) one or more tackifiers, metal oxides, cure accelerators, anti-oxidants, co-elastomers or fillers. Specified sheet materials are films of polybutene-1, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, vinyl chloride/vinyl acetate copolymers, polyvinyl fluoride, polystyrene, polyvinylidene chloride, polyethylene terephthalate, polymethyl acrylate, polymethyl methacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, polycarbonates and cellulose esters. Many suitable ingredients are specified including as tackifiers t.-butylphenol/formaldehyde resins, as metal oxides, magnesium, zinc, cadmium, lead and titanium oxides as cure accelerators mercaptoimidazoline, triethyl, trimethylene triamine, condensates of butyraldehyde with aniline or butylamine, di-o-toy guanidine and the dicatechol borate salt thereof, methylene bis-(4-phenylisocyanate), N-tetramethyl thiuram disulphide, thiocarbanilide, lead oxide and sodium dibutyl dithiocarbamate as antioxidants N-phenyl-#-naphthylamine, octamine, phenothiazine, aldehyde amine condensates and 4,41- butylidene bis (6-t.-butyl-m-cresol) as co-elastomers natural rubber, styrene/butadiene rubbers, chlorinated polyethylenes and polypropylenes, polyacrylates, ethylene/propylene rubbers, cis - polybutadienes, cis-polyisoprenes and polychloroprenes and as fillers, carbon black, calcium silicate, silica, clay and asbestos. |
