| abstract | Novel title steroids of the partial formula wherein R 1 is OH, Oacyl or halogen R 2 is O, H(OH) or H(Oacyl) and X 1 is H or a hydrocarbon radical and X 2 is a hydrocarbon radical or >CX 1 X 2 is a cycloaliphatic radical, are prepared by splitting off N 2 from steroids of the partial formula followed, when required, by conversion of a #5-3-hydroxy or -acyloxy grouping to a #4-3-keto grouping, the introduction of an 11-oxygen substituent and/or a 9[alpha]-halo group, the introduction of a 21-hydroxyl, -acyloxy or -halogen substituent and/or the introduction of a #1- and/or #6-double bond. All these processes are effected by known methods. 16[alpha],17[alpha] - (Substituted - pyrazolino) - 20- keto-steroids used as starting materials are prepared from the corresponding #16 - 20- keto - steroids and diazo compounds X 1 X 2 -CN 2 . They may be subjected to further conversions as described above for the 16[alpha],17[alpha] - (substituted methylene)-steroids. |
