titleOfInvention | PROCEDURE FOR THE PREPARATION OF 3-METHYL-19-NOR-3,5-AN-DROSTADIEN - 17 BETAOLES. |
abstract | The novel compounds 3-methyl-17[alpha]-(al]yl and ethynyl) - 19 - nor - 3,5 - androstadien - 17# - ols are prepared by isomerization of the corresponding 3 - methylene - 4 - androstenes. Isomerization is preferably effected with an acidic agent. 3 - Methylene - 17[alpha] - (allyl and ethynyl) -19 - nor - 4 - androsten - 17# - ols are prepared from the corresponding 3-ones and triphenyl phosphine methylene. The 3-methyl steroids of the invention, which are stated to have ovulation-inhibiting, anti-fertility, estrogenic and anti-estrogenic action, may be made up into pharmaceutical compositions with suitable carriers. |
