abstract | Novel compounds I wherein R 1 and R 2 represent hydrogen, alkyl and phenyl or R 1 and R 2 together represent a saturated hydrocarbon chain containing 4 or 5 carbon atoms, R 3 represents methyl or ethyl and X is an anion, are prepared by the interaction of a 4 - dimethylamino - N - R 3 - thiobenzamide and a halo substituted carbonyl compound. 4 - Dimethylamino - N - methylbenzamide, obtained by reacting p-dimethylaminobenzoyl chloride with methylamine, is converted to the thiobenzamide utilizing P 2 S 5 in pyridine 4-dimethylamino - N - ethylthiobenzamide is also described. Compounds I which may be added to animal feeds show anthelmintie activity. |
