abstract Esters which are soluble in water under pressure, and at up to 130 C., consisting of the title compound and only small amounts of dimers and triers, are prepared by reacting terephthalic acid or its esters, semiesters or glycol polyesters with 5-50 moles ethylene glycol at 150-300 C., and freeing the mixture from volatile constituents at below 150 C.
