titleOfInvention PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING POLY-TIRENE COMPOSITIONS OF IMPROVED PHYSICAL PROPERTIES.
abstract Polystyrene is blended with 3-50% by wt. of a branched chain block copolymer derived from one or more C 4-12 conjugated dienes, one or more monovinyl aromatic compounds containing not more than 12 C atoms in substituent groups and 0À005-0À3% of a polyvinyl aromatic compound, the block copolymer containing 5-75 parts by wt. of polymerized monovinyl aromatic blocks containing at least 80% of polymerized monovinyl aromatic compound and 95-25 parts of polymerized diene blocks containing at least 50% of polymerized diene. The diene may be 1,3-butadiene, isoprene or piperylene and the aromatic compound may be styrene or a vinylnaphthalene which may be substituted. The polyvinyl aromatic compound may be divinyl benzene. The block copolymer may be produced by polymerizing the monomers with n-butyllithium as catalyst.
