abstract Kalamycin or a salt thereof [see Division C2] may be incorporated into compositions having antibacterial and antifungal activity or may be added to animal feeds to promote growth. Specified salts are the sodium, potassium, calcium and amine salts and salts with the therapeutic bases theophyllin, theobromine, caffeine, antihistamines, nicotinic acid amide, isonicotinic acid hydrazide, adrenaline, ephedrine and choline. The antibiotic may be used for deodorising fish and fish crates, treating silk worm habitats and pigeon roosts and as a general disinfectant. It may be used for treating Alternaria solani in potatoes Erwinia amylovora in roses, pears and apples Xanthomonas pruni on plums, apricots and peaches Pseudomonas phaseolicola on beans and Fusarium oxysporum F. cubense on bananas.
